01Install and activate

Four steps, about five minutes.

  1. Install it

    Copy the file you downloaded onto the bridge PC or your laptop. A USB stick is fine. Double-click it, accept the licence agreement, then click Install. It takes about a minute.

  2. Say where this PC is

    Open NaviBoss. It asks Where is this PC? Choose Bridge or ship PC and it stays offline; you can lock it offline for good. Choose My own laptop and it can use the internet for live warnings, the forecast and Boss.

  3. Type your licence key

    It looks like NB-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX and is in your payment email. With internet, that is all: NaviBoss is activated.

  4. No internet on that PC? Use your phone

    NaviBoss shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone: it opens naviboss.app/activate and downloads naviboss.lic. Copy that file to a USB stick, plug it into the PC and press Open the licence file. When your plan renews, a laptop renews by itself; a bridge PC needs this step again.

02If Windows warns you

A blue “Windows protected your PC” box is expected.

The first time you open the file, Windows may show this blue box. Windows shows it for new programs it does not know yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. Only do this with a file you downloaded from this page.

No “Run anyway” button? Some computers, often ones managed by a shipping company, block new programs completely. Ask your company's IT department to allow NaviBoss, or write to [email protected] and we will help.

A “Smart App Control” message instead? Some Windows 11 computers have Smart App Control switched on, and it stops new programs like this one with no way past. Install NaviBoss on a computer without it, or write to [email protected] before you change any Windows setting: on many computers, Smart App Control cannot be switched back on without resetting Windows.

03Your licence and help

Your key, your PCs, and help.

Your licence key and your PCs are on your account page at auth.naviboss.app/account. Downloading a PC's file again is always free. Your plan's PCs are chosen again at each renewal, so the next ship's PC can take a place. New computer mid-period, or Windows reinstalled? Write to [email protected] and we will move it.
