Port limits

The harbour limit is the area enclosed by an arc of a circle drawn with Kaga Shima as the centre, and a radius of 2.75nm. The harbour limit has recently been extended approx 2nm SW.

Anchorages

A quarantine anchorage lies 1.25nm SW of Otsuku Shima.

Anchorage can be obtained off the entrance to the harbour in a depth of 11.0m, E of Mitsu Shima.

Restrictions

Entry or sailing after sunset is possible but subject to tidal conditions.

There are 5 tugs available; 1 x 500hp, 1 x 1,500hp (available from Misumi), 2 x 3,200hp, 1 x 2,500hp (available from Nagasaki).

The port consist of outer harbour area where most of the commercial activity operation are handled. Small coastal tankers are also handled in separate harbour area. In recent years, the port has been developed to accommodate larger cruise ship vessels. Main product handled at port are bulk wood chips, cement, limestone, wood logs, steel product, grains, containers and petroleum product.
