Approach

The port is approached from the SW and entered through Tanabe Wan.

Draught limitation in the channel is 10.5m at HW. The fairway has a least depth of 5.2m, on the leading line 0.25nm SE of the entrance.

Anchorages

There is a good anchorage in a depth of 7.5m mud, approx 0.5nm S of the entrance to Aizu Kawa. Anchorage is also available at 33° 42'N 135° 19'E, in depth of 40m sand.

Restrictions

Caution: Fish havens lie in the approach to the port.

Possibility of entry or sailing after sunset: No restrictions, but pilots are not available after sunset.

Tugs

None presently, but can be brought from Wakayama when required.
