Approach

Approach

The directions are as follows:

North Approach: Navigation through the channel from the N, width 30m at the bottom, should be made at a suitable distance from the buoys, which are moored 34m apart. The harbour approach is made with the assistance of four sets of leading lights, as follows:

Sio N Leading Lights: On the alignment (205.5°) of these lights leads SSW from the vicinity of the buoy (safe water), moored 1.75nm W of Naeshoved, 54°59'N 010°46'E to enter the buoyed channel 0.3nm farther SSW

Rudkobing NE Leading Lights: On the alignment (167.5°) of these lights leads SSE from a buoy (E Cardinal) and a lightbuoy (port hand) at the first bend of the channel for approx 0.6nm.

Rudkobing Havn Leading Lights: On the alignment (188.75°) of these lights leads S from a buoy (W cardinal) and a lightbuoy (starboard hand) at the second bend of the channel for approx 1nm, when the track leads through the navigable span of Langelandsbroen.

Rudkobing W Leading Lights: On the alignment 198.5° of these lights leads SSW from a position 0.3nm S of the bridge, marked by a pair of buoys (E Cardinal and port hand), for approx 0.15nm to the harbour entrance.

South approach: The harbour approach is made with the assistance of two sets of leading lights, as follows:

Sio S Leading Lights: On the alignment (033°) of these lights leads NNE from the vicinity of the lightbuoy (safe water), moored approx 2.5nm SW of Rudkobing Church, 54°56.2'N 010°42.7'E, through the dredged channel, marked by buoys (starboard hand) on its W side, passing ESE of Sondre Saelgrund, (2nm WSW), the SE extremity of Tasinge Grund, the extensive bank lying S and SE of Tasinge.

Rudkobing Havn S Leading Lights: On the alignment (053.75°) of these lights leads NE through the channel, marked on its W side by a lightbuoy (starboard hand) at the first bend and then by buoys (lateral) to the harbour.

From a position approx 0.25nm from the Front Leading Light, marked on its W side by a lightbuoy (starboard hand), the track continues NE on the NW side of the leading line through the buoyed channel to the harbour entrance.

Trafikhavn, the main part of the harbour is entered between 2 moles and is divided into 2 basins by a third mole extending NW from the head of the harbour, depths are from 3.5-5.0m.

Fiskerhavn, situated close NE of Trafikhavn with depths from 2.5-3.1m is approached through a short channel, dredged to a depth of 3.0m, leading SE from Rudkobing Lob.

Anchorages

There is anchorage available for small vessels, situated at 54°56'N 010°43'E.

Restrictions

Langelandsbroen, 54°57'N 010°43'E is a fixed road bridge which spans Rudkobing Lob between the SE extremity of Sio and Langeland shore 0.5nm NE of Rudkobing Havn. The vertical clearance is 26m at mean water level. The navigable width is 80m, between supporting piers Nos 11 and 12, reckoned from Sio, marked by daymarks and synchronised flashing lights (lateral) exhibited at an elevation of 3.5m on pillars Nos 11 and 12. A fog signal is sounded from the N side of No 11 pillar.
