Approach

The port is approached by an entrance channel, 0.6nm in length, width 20m with a depth of 2.7m, marked on both sides by spar buoys.

Restrictions

A lock gives access from the SE corner of Ostre Bassin into Ringkobing Fjord, length 34m, width 9.4m, the depth over the sill is 4.0m below mean sea level.

Vessels longer than 33.5m can be canalled through the locks at certain states of the tide.

A road bridge with a single lifting span crosses the lock just clear of the NW gate.
