Pobra de Caraminal is located on the north bank of the Ría de Arousa, surrounded by the cove of Caraminal facing the port of Cabo de Cruz in the neighbouring municipality of Boiro.

The port includes a commercial quay which is used by refrigerated cargo ships handling fish. It is an important port in the unloading of frozen tunas also has fleet destined for fresh fishing and mussel farming.
