Anchorages
Nakagusuku Wan affords anchorage to large vessels in depths of 22.0-36m, sand and shell. However, it cannot be considered a safe anchorage when winds blow between ENE and ESE, as after two or three successive days of these onshore winds, heavy rollers enter the bay.

Nakagusuku New Port is located in the NW area of Nakagusuku Bay, on the E coast of Okinawa Island.
The port
The main port for Okinawa city, the new port includes the Okinawa Free Trade Zone and a regular passenger traffic service operates to Tokujin Ko and Tsuken Shima Ko.
Nakagusuku is a specified port and it handles all crude and petroleum products within the Okinawa island group. It has many sea berths and piers for large vessels in its jurisdiction, most of which are owned by petroleum companies.
The port area also covers Kinwan to the N and Nishihara terminal to the S, both of which can be found under separate entries.
