updated Sep 2020

Approach

An artificial channel dredged to a depth of 6.0m over a bottom width of max 20m, min 16m, marked by spar buoys, perches and leading beacons, leads from the entrance at Karrebaeksminde to the harbour.

The alignment (043°) of leading beacons leads NE from a position about 0.2nm ENE of Karrebaeksmindebroen for approx 1.8nm.

The alignment (244°) astern of a beacon (black, red and white diamond topmark) (55°12.1'N 011°41.4'E) and Karrebaek Windmill (1.3nm WSW), leads ENE for approx 0.9nm to the canal entrance.

The swinging basin can handle vessels with max LOA 119m.

Anchorages

Anchorage is available 1.5nm SW of Karrebaeksminde Light in depths of 8.0-11m. Good holding ground, but exposed to strong winds from the SW.

Restrictions

A bascule road bridge spans the canal 650m above the moleheads. The navigable width of the passage is 22m and there is a navigable free side height of 20m when the opening is raised.

A power cable with headroom of 33m spans the canal 1.5nm below Naestved Harbour (55°12'.8N 11°43'.7E).

A roadbridge 1.3nm below Naestved Harbour is co-ordinated by the Karresbaeksminde Bridge.

Gas pipelines run across the canal approx 0.5nm and 1.25nm SW of Naestved.

Submarine cables lay across the canal in several places and are marked by notice boards on both sides.

Tugs

The port operates an ice breaking tug of 350hp. Tugs are recommended for vessels over 1800DWT, 5.0m draught and/or length of more than 100m. Some exceptions can be made by the Harbour Master in accordance with vessel's draught, beam and length.
