Approach

Because of the nature of the coast little is visible until the vessel approaches the charted 10.0m depth contour; at night or in thick weather a vessel should not proceed further until sure of its position. Three beacons on the sandspit, S of the entrance to the creek, are useful to a vessel approaching from S; those on the N side are useful for anchoring.

The channel length to the barge loading berth is about 4nm, with a width of 150m at the port mouth and depths from 2.6m to 10.0m.

Anchorages

Good anchorage, used by vessels calling at Jakhau Harbour, may be obtained 5nm SW of the entrance to Godia Creek in approx 9.0m, bottom mud. Distance of anchorage from shore is about 6.4nm.

Restrictions

One vessel can be worked at the anchorage at a time.
