Approach

updated May 2017

Approach

The dredged channel, 40m in width, and marked by buoys (lateral) leads 0.2nm NE, passing between the moles on each head at the entrance with Stalvalsevaerks Havn.

Stalvalsvaerks Havn: The entrance faces SW between two areas of reclaimed land, lights are exhibited from small white towers on each side of the entrance.

A submarine cable, marked by notice boards, is laid across the entrance.

The channel leads from the red and white pillar buoy moored 0.5nm SW of the entrance through the breakwaters. A pair of leading marks in line bearing 041.75°, leads through the channel. The front mark consists of a yellow ventilator on top of a building and the rear mark a yellow triangle with a black stripe.

There are depths of 6.0m in the dredged entrance channel and in the harbour, except alongside the N most wharves, where the depth is 5.5m.

Frederiksvaerk Havn: The old harbour, consists of an outer and an inner harbour enclosed by a mole 825m in length on the N side and by reclaimed land to the S. The harbour is used for leisure craft only.

The entrance, 70m in width, faces SW and from it a short channel marked by spar buoys leads through the outer basin into the inner basin between two short moles. In the entrance and in both basins the depth is 2.5m.

Anchorages

Vessels can anchor outside the harbour about 100-200m NW of the dredged entrance channel, depths 3.0-4.0m. Small vessels can anchor in a depth of 3.0m, good holding ground, on the N side of the mole, approx 0.07nm WNW of the entrance.

Restrictions

The commercial harbour can be entered by day only.
