Approach

If approaching Rozi Island from W do not alter course until Kalvan Lighthouse bears 185°, so as to avoid Ranson Shoal (22°37.2'N 070°02.4'E) and the dangers which extend offshore between Pirotan Island and Rozi Island 6nm SE.

When approaching or leaving anchorages, vessels should pass N of Ranson Shoal taking care to avoid the shoal water extending 0.5nm ESE of it; also passing well clear of the numerous wrecks and foul ground which lie in this area.

Anchorages

Large vessels can anchor 1.5nm N of Kalvan Light Beacon and has the capacity of max 17 vessels at a time during fair season, during monsoon port permits working of max 13 vessels. Smaller vessels can anchor approx 2.5nm NNE of the northern end of Rozi Mata in 5.4m.

Lighters: Approach to the anchorage from the port is through a channel 5.2nm in length which dries for the most part at LW. Lighters move from the port during high tide times only. From the anchorage Bedi Port is 11km, New Bedi Port is 6km and New Rozi Pier is 5km.

Tugs

Four tugs available, from 350 - 4,000hp.

Mooring

Berthing priorities are decided by the port authorities based on vessel type and cargo.

Health

Local port health officer grants pratique after boarding vessel. Pratique is not granted by radio. Renewal of Ship Sanitation Control Certificate and Exemption Certificates possible.

Customs and immigration

Customs allowances: One bottle of liquor and one carton of cigarettes is allowed for each crew member per week.

Immigration: Immigration officials will check passports/CDC (Seaman's Books) and issue shore permits. Nationals from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Iran will not be issued with landing permits.

Available. Small scale hull/deck, electrical and electronic repairs can be undertaken. Divers available.

Dry docks

There is a drydock, length 70.1m, width 13.4m, depth on sill at MHWS 2.65m. For repairs of port launches, tugs, barges, etc. The drydock can accommodate 4 port crafts at a time up to 2m draft.

Bunkers: MFO, IFO, MDO and gas oil available.

Fresh water: Available, 72 hours notice required.

There are two hospitals and dispensaries in Jamnagar.

Transport

Nearest airport: Jamnagar Airport (Govardhanpur Airport Jamnagar), approx 6km SSW of the old port and approx 10km SSW of the new port.

Nearest railway: Jamnagar Station, approx 4km SE of the old port and approx 7km SSE of the new port. It is connected to National Highway from Rajkot and the broad gauge line is to be extended up to Rozi Pier.
