Zhapu, also called Jiaxing, is located on the N shore of Hangzhou Bay, approx 50nm S of Shanghai.
The port
Zhapu was formerly the port of Hangzhou (also known as Hangchow). The port has been developed into a deep water facility with the construction of offshore berths at Chenshan (see separate entry).
Principal cargoes handled include coal, oil, timber, steel, cement, grain, general cargo and containers.
Traffic
