Approach

There are 2 channels leading from Ijusnefjarden to the harbour, both authorised for a draught of 7.6m.

The shorter channel leads 0.1nm N of Fabodvallsharana and thence SW between Storgrytan and Fabodvallsharana. It is well marked by buoys (spar) but is very narrow at one point.

The passage through the narrowest part, 0.02nm in width, is indicated by a pair of Leading Beacons (61°11.6'N 017°09.8'E) (white triangular boards) situated on the mainland W of Vallvik Light. In line they bear 235°.

The other channel passes along the NE side of Storgrytan a sparsley wooded islet with steep, rugged reddish rocks on its NE side, lying 0.5nm NW of Fabodvallsharana. It then turns SW, at night into the white sector of Lillgrytan Light, between 234.5° and 236°, rounding the N end of Storgrytan, onto the Vallvik Leading Line, with the white sector of Storstensharet Light (61°12.5'E 017°09'E) (lantern on a white post, elevation 5.0m) located on the jetty head of Storstensharet, between 321° and 326° astern.

Vallvik Leading Lights (white triangles with red borders on white framework towers, elevations 18m and 14m, 275m apart) situated on the S side of the harbour in line bearing 145° lead through a buoyed channel on the SW sides of Storgrytan and Fabodvallsharsna.

Course must be adjusted to pass NE of a 7.1m patch lying 0.1nm NW of the head of Vallvik Pier.
