The entrance channel to Reka Kamchatka, leads between two broad sandy shoals extending off the extremities of the two spits that form the mouth of the river.
A radio beacon transmits from Ust-Kamchatsk, with a beacon standing on the framework of a former light, 28m in height, on the E side of the entrance to Reka Kamchatka.
Anchorages
Anchorage can be obtained 0.5-0.8nm offshore, either W of the mouth of the river, in a depth of 11.0-12.8m, sand, or E of the mouth of the river, in a depth of 14.6-20.1m, sand.
During calm weather, a long swell often sets in without warning and soon becomes heavy.
In thick weather a vessel should steer directly for the mouth of Reka Kamchatka, anchor when a depth of 29.0m is reached, and wait until the vesselâs position can be ascertained.
