Approach

From a position outside the charted restricted area E of Tanjung Tanah (6°28.72'S 108°32.53'E), to a position N of Pulau Mandalika (6°23.04'S 110°55.29'E), the coastal route initially leads ESE and follows the coastline keeping in deep water throughout the passage. At Semarang (6°56.50'S 110°25.26'E), the coast turns NNE for 35 miles to Tanjung Jati (6°26.74'S 110°43.58'E) thence E for 12 miles to Tanjung Beteng (6°24.43'S 110°55.17'E), the N point of a wide headland. The coast is generally low and swampy, rising in the N with the mountain range of Pergunungan Murya (Maria).

ISPS compliance: The US Coast Guard has determined (12/2012) that the Republic of Indonesia is now maintaining effective anti-terrorism measures in their ports. The Republic of Indonesia is removed from the list of the Countries Affected in paragraph B of the Port Security Advisory.
