Approach

updated Jun 2010

Approach

There is no channel or fairway buoys, approach is made directly to anchorage.

Anchorages

Vessels anchor 1nm SE of buoys in position 40°31.0'N 023°50.0'E in a depth of 40m. In very bad weather, NE force 7-8, vessels must shift anchorage in the southern port of Lerissos Bay.

Stratoni offers a good anchorage in Lerissos Bay and can be considered a safe berth apart from an occasional summer swell which may force ships to suspend loading operations and seek shelter at the Platy or Elia anchorages.

Restrictions

During NE gales the swell is sometimes sufficient to prevent loading and cause vessels to shelter.
