Approach

The harbour is approached on the alignment of leading lights, through a channel marked by buoys and lightbuoys, and entered on the alignment of leading lights, through a dredged channel marked by buoys and lightbuoys, max depth 6.1m. A secondary channel lies E of the main channel.

Approach with Gasfeten Lighthouse bearing 024°, and when 2.5nm from it bring Saxemara Leading Lights (56°09.2'N 01514.3'E) into line bearing 018°. The Front light (brown lantern, white facing alignment, elevation 4.0m) stands on Busseskar, 2nm NNE of Gasfeten. The Rear light (brown lantern, white with 2 red bands, facing alignment, elevation 10.0m) stands on a rock 0.7nm farther NNE.

Pass between the buoys (spar) which mark Slankullen, depth 3.4m, and Sommargrund, depth 3.7m, lying on the E and W sides of the channel, 0.8nm S and 1nm SW, respectively, of Gasfeten.

The line leads between Gasfeten and Ostra Fittjakullen, depth 2.2m and marked by a buoy (spar) 0.5nm W.

When Gasfeten Lighthouse bears 155°, keep slightly E of the leading line to pass close E of Eskelen Beacon (red, radar reflector, 2.6m in height) which stands on a small dark rock 0.5nm NNW of Gasfeten.

After passing over a 8.7m patch lying 0.5nm SSE of the islet of Stora Ekon (56°08.5'N 015°13.3'E) alter course E to bring Svanik Leading Lights (white triangles on orange pedestals, elevations 10.0m and 5.0m, 0.3nm apart) into line bearing 029°, the Rear light stands on the NW point of Haron (56°09.6'N 015°15.2'E).

Svanviksudde Light (directional) (grey framework tower, elevation 4.0m) is exhibited 0.07nm SW of Svanvik Front Light.

Pass close E of the buoy (spar) which marks a 2.0m patch lying 0.3nm S of Saxemara Front Light and alter course NE round Dunso Nabb Lightbuoy (spar, starboard hand) moored close off the W side of the island of Dunson to bring Haron Leading Beacons (red triangles, 50m apart) standing on the S end of Haron, into line bearing 042°.

Pass 0.1nm SE of a buoy (spar) marking a rock awash, which lies 0.125nm SW of Svanviksudde and alter course ENE round a 7.0m patch lying N of Dunson to bring Steko Light (white diamond, orange pedestal, elevation 4.0m), exhibited from the S point of Yttre Stekon (56°09.5'N 015°16.2'E), ahead bearing 066°.

When Aspan Leading Lights (rear, white post, front, white lantern, elevations 8.0m and 3.0m, 0.3nm apart) situated on the E side of Ronnebyfjarden, come into line bearing 087°, steer for them on that bearing, passing between the buoys (spar) which mark the channel E of Haron.

A beacon (white cairn, red diagonal band) stands on Lilla Eakon 0.75 E of Haron.

When 0.8nm from Aspan Front Light alter course NNE round a lightbuoy (red spar, light flashing red every 10 sec) to bring Sandviken Light (56°10.4'N 015°18.6'E) (white diamond, orange pedestal, elevation 5.0m), situated 1nm N of Aspan Front Light, ahead bearing 032°.

When 0.5nm from Sandviken Light structure alter course N round a lightbuoy (red spar, light flashing white every 3 sec) and steer 358° on the alignment of Ronneby Leading Lights (white triangles on posts, elevations 18m and 14m, 150m apart) on the E side of the entrance of Ronneby.

At night: Approach in the white sector of Gasfeten Light bearing between 001° and 048°.

When steering for Steko Light, keep in the white sector bearing between 064° and 067°.

The white sector of Svanviksudde Light (directional), bearing between 266° and 269°, astern, forms a reciprocal lead for Aspan Leading Lights.

When steering for Sandviken Light, keep in the white sector bearing between 030° and 033°.

Caution: a permanent minefield is laid in the approaches to the harbour.
