Traffic schemes and VTS

Vessel Traffic Management Systems: Report to port control and pilot station on VHF Ch 16, 12, 1 hour before arrival.

Anchorages

Anchorage in these areas may be insecure, especially in winter and with winds from NW to NE. Anchorage may be obtained in depths of approx 20m sand, 0.5nm NE of Molo di Levante. The anchorage becomes untenable with onshore winds and vessels should shift berth to Isola Asinara.

Prohibited anchorages: A restricted area within which navigation is regulated and within which anchoring and fishing are prohibited is established in the port approaches, centred 1.5nm N of Molo di Ponente.

Except for authorised vessels, navigation, anchoring and fishing is also prohibited in a second restricted area extending WNW from the head of Molo di Ponente and passing N of Diga Foranea, then WSW to the shore.

Restrictions

Berthing and unberthing of tankers is restricted to daylight hours only, possible exceptions in favourable weather at the harbour master's discretion.

Navigation and anchoring are prohibited, except for authorised vessels, in the area, extending 2nm N of the entrances to the port.

Tugs

Three tugs are available. Tugs work from 0700-2000hrs.

Tugs are compulsory for vessels carrying dangerous cargoes, vessels over 20 years old and when wind speed exceeds 25kts.

Mooring

Vessels are moored either port side/starboard side alongside heading N. No aft loading or discharging.
