The port consists of two harbours, the Industrial port (King Fahd Industrial Port) to the N and the Commercial port to the S. Both ports are protected by their own breakwaters and an additional central (detached) breakwater runs N to S.

Exports: Refined oil products, LPG, LNG, petrochemicals, iron and steel goods, aluminium and sulphur.

Imports: Iron ore concentrate, limestone, Bulk and bagged fertilisers, alumina and salt.

Traffic

Approx 78,000,000t of cargo, 520,000TEU and 3,000 vessels are handled annually at the port.
