Approach

From a position to seaward approx 1nm ENE of the entrance, the track leads WSW, passing (with positions from the monument (42°27.4'N 014°14.0'E):

NNW of a light beacon (special) (0.9nm NE), then:

SSE of the head of the detached breakwater (0.9nm N), from which a light (green column, 6m in height) is exhibited.

Then, due to the narrow entrance, vessels should align with the axis (228°) of the entrance channel as soon as possible, bearing in mind the effect of the current in the vicinity.

Caution: The harbour is subject to sudden and unexpected silting caused by debris brought down by the river. Dredging is regularly in progress.

A road bridge spans the river approx 0.7nm WSW of the mole heads.
