Penuba Channel: When approaching from E, the swept channel should be used, then the channel between Tengah Island and Serang Island, which is preferable to the channel between Tengah Island and Kekek Island.
Penuba Island lies close under the Selajar coast and 1.75nm W of Kekek Island. A narrow, but deep, channel between Penuba Island and Selajar Island is entered from W between Tanjung Tungai (Tungar), the S point of Selajar Island, and the S end of Penuba Island. This channel is marked by beacons which are privately maintained.
Anchorages
Anchorage can be obtained in Selat Penuba close S of the channel along the W side of Penuba Island in a depth of 22.0 or in the channel 0.5nm within the entrance, where the tidal streams are less. The holding ground in Selat Penuba, S of Penuba Island is bad, being rock.

ISPS compliance: The US Coast Guard has determined (12/2012) that the Republic of Indonesia is now maintaining effective anti-terrorism measures in their ports. The Republic of Indonesia is removed from the list of the Countries Affected in paragraph B of the Port Security Advisory. Therefore, actions required in paragraphs C and D of this Port Security Advisory are no longer required for vessels that arrive in the United States after visiting ports in the Republic of Indonesia.
In a further effort to combat piracy, the Indonesian Government are allocating Piracy Anchor Safe Zones within some of their ports. These will be patrolled by the Indonesian Marine Police. Individual Port Authorities should be contacted about the latest information concerning these.
