The entrance to Pebane is fronted by extensive banks. These banks are subject to frequent change and their outer ends are connected by a bar. Within the bar, depths increase in the fairway of the channel which leads to the anchorage abreast the town of Pebane.

About Pebane

Pebane is located approx 270nm NE of Beira. The port is formed by the estuary of the Rio Moniga, which enters the sea 5nm ENE of Rio Mazenma.
The port
Pebane is a transhipment port for copra from the surrounding estates, in particular Madal, Boror, C de Zambezia and Morroa. Most of the copra is barged into the port where it is unloaded to warehouses for later export.
Traffic
Approx 3,000t of copra is exported annually.
