Small craft can anchor at the head of the harbour which has depths of less than 9.0m. A sewer outfall discharges in the vicinity.
Anchorages in the approaches to Patmos: Ormos Griko: Ormos Griko (37°18.0'N 026°34.0'E) affords good shelter for vessels. The bay is, however, unsafe during SE winds in winter when shelter should be sought in Ormos Merikha (37°20.0'N 026°32.0'E).
The bay may be approached from S by passing S and W of Vrakhonisis Tragos, a rocky islet 107m high, or from E by passing N of the islet. The S approach has a least width of 900m between shallow banks on each side.
A vessel may anchor in the middle of the bay in a depth of approx 26m, sand and mud. Small craft can anchor off the village of Griko at the head of the bay.
