The port is entered between Punta San Leonardo and Punta della Croce, 0.55nm SW, controlling depth is 6.0m in the entrance.
The entrance to Porto Vecchio is approx 45m wide and lies between a framework structure which marks the remains of an ancient breakwater and Molo Nord.
A wreck lies off the head of Molo Cidonio and rocks lie in the entrance to Porto Nuovo. Passage into Porto Nuovo is dangerous due to shoals and obstructions.
Restrictions
Entry into Porto Vecchio is only permitted by day, in calm weather.

Pantelleria is situated on the NW coast of an island of the same name, off the SW coast of Sicily.
The port
The port consists of two areas, Porto Vecchio, the E part and Porto Nuovo, the W part, divided by a central breakwater, Molo di Ponente.
Porto Vecchio is protected from the N by Molo Nord; Porto Nuovo is protected from the W by an "L" shaped breakwater projecting from Punta della Croce.
Cargoes exported include wine, dried fish and agricultural products.
Daily overnight and hydrofoil ferry services to Trapani, Sicily.
