Approach

Directions for entering harbour: From a position approx 1.25nm WNW of Strukkamphuk Light (54°24.7'N., 011°05.8'E), the track leads N in the white sector (348°-350°) of Orth Hafen E Mole head light (grey mast, 6m in height) through a dredged channel, 15m in width, depth 3.0m subject to silting, marked by buoys (lateral). Care should be taken to adhere to the leading line, as depths of less than 1.0m are found outside the dredged channel.

Anchorages

Orther Bucht affords good anchorage for small vessels in offshore winds, particularly in conditions of drift ice. The best anchorage is between Breiter Barg, shoal ground extending SE from Krummsteert, and Hoher Grund, a detached shoal in the middle of the bay, in a depth of approx 4.0m, close E of the leading line to Orth Harbour.

Restrictions

Vessels up to 40m in length can enter the harbour. Dredged channel between moles is 14.93m in width.
