Approach

Approach

Entrance channels: The channel has a 150m wide clearance entrance to negotiate and around 500m width approaching the Nasipit Port reinforced government wharf.

Turning basins: The turning basin has a radius of approx 200m with a min navigable depth of 7.0m at MLLW.

Deep water at the port of Nasipit extends well into the harbour, but the inner end is filled with mud flats, fish ponds and swamps which extend around a part of the eastern side. Generally, the bottom which slopes down to the 10.0m contour is quite steep. The harbour is protected by an outer coral reef stretching across the entrance from the western headland and by an inner sand pit stretching across the eastern direction from which waves may approach and enter the harbour in the NE. Waves from this direction may be absorbed on a spreading beach which exists on the western side of the inlet.

From a position 1.5nm N of the harbour entrance, steer approx 180° for the black chimney of the timber mill on the E side of the harbour. When Nasipit Harbour light tower bears 215°, steer for it on that bearing, passing 150m E of the red spherical buoy. When the rocky bluff on the W side of the entrance bears 325°, alter course to 180° for the pier or anchorage.

Port limits

The port limits extend from Diuata Point 09°06'N 125°12'E on the western side and up to Bolo-Bolo Point 09°25'N 125°27'E on the eastern side.

Anchorages

For small vessels, a depth of 10.0m is positioned at 150m SE of light structure. Anchorage has limited swing room for large vessels. For large vessels holding ground, the safe depth for anchorage is in 47m sand and mud, 0.5nm offshore eastward of harbour entrance.

Restrictions

At the western side of the entrance channel there is a natural coral reef formation making it dangerous and narrow.

Mooring

Vessel manoeuvring for berth of anchor without the necessary pilot and departing from the port without permission from the Philippine Ports Authority shall be fined (not exceeding PP5,000 for domestic vessels and not exceeding PP10,000 for overseas vessels).

General berthing information: Application for berth allocation is required on a first come first served basis. Passenger and perishable carriers are given priority over cargo vessels.
