Channel in Lake Erie to entrance is clearly marked by a serious of port and starboard marker buoys. Raisin River Channel is unobstructed, depth 6.4m, length 7.2km, connects to the 8.9ha turning basin which has a depth of 5.4m.
Restrictions
The Turning Basin off the Turning Dock wharf area is 5.4m deep with a diameter of 244m.

Monroe is located 2.5km up the River Raisin which flows into Lake Erie (W side) and is Michigans's only port on Lake Erie.
The port
The Port of Monroe is the industrial, commercial, and recreational gateway to the City of Monroe, Michigan. The port is home to the largest liquid asphalt blending facility and largest clean coal plant in the world with self-unloading lake freighters, unique to the Great Lakes area, delivering liquid asphalt, coal and limestone.
Cargo includes coal, limestone, liquid asphalt, synthetic gypsum, pipe sections, wind blades, salt and some containers.
