Approach

Directions: The inlet is entered between Presttangi (62°02.0'N 007°09.0'W) and Stakkarnir (2nm ENE), from where the white sector (275-295°) of Midvaag Light (post on base, 2m in height) (0.2nm SSW of Giljanes) on the breakwater head leads through the inlet to Midvaag.
Port limits
The seaward limit of Midvaag Harbour is a line between two beacons (each a white stone cairn), one on the NE shore near the root of the breakwater, the other 0.25nm S on the S shore.
Anchorages
There is good anchorage in the inlet but S'y and W'ly winds raise the sea which breaks as surf along the shore. The best berth is close E of Midvaag Light in a depth of approx 18m, good holding.
Restrictions
There are numerous fishing farms in the inlet on the approach to the port (62°02.544'N 007°09.085'W), (62°02.569'N 007°09.456'W) and (62°02.714'N 007°09.229'W).
It has been noted that there are local magnetic anomalies which are present within the islands and offshore.
