Tides

Approach

Pass S of Mansinam and W of Mios Wappi. Then steer 006.5° on the leading beacons to the anchorage.

Mansinam and Pulau Lemon (Mios Wappi) may also be passed on their N sides by steering for the light beacon on Karang Butsiuri bearing 290° which leads through the swept channel of Teluk Dore. The channel is approx 1.0nm in length, 820m wide and has depths of between 25.0m and 30m. When Pulau Lemon (Mios Wappi) is approx abeam alter course N to pass between Karang Butsiuri and Tanjung Rarisamberi and then to the anchorage.

Entry from East: From a position E of Tanjung Memori, the track initially leads SE passing between patch and reefs fringing the S point of the headland containing Tanjung Momori. Then W towards the pilot boarding area, passing N of Pulau Mansinam and Pulau Lemon (Mios Wappi). Then between the NE end of Karang Butsiuri where a light is displayed and a lightbuoy (starboard hand) is moored 1.5nm SW of Tanjung Rarisambari. The E entrance points to the roadstead.

Port limits

Pelabuhan Manokwari (Manokwari Roads) is bounded by lines joining the N end of Pulau Lemon (Milos Wappi) with Tanjung Sanggen (0.85nm NW) and Tanjung Ambla 0.25nm ENE.

Anchorages

Anchorage areas are located around the following co-ordinates:

00°52.40'S 134°04.10'E and 00°52.12'S 134°04.30'E. Anchorage may be obtained in depths of approx 35m in the roadstead in moderate holding ground.

Small vessels may anchor in the N part of the inlet in depths of 15.0m.

Anchorage is prohibited near the two mooring buoys S of the town.

Should be advised to agent and Port Authority, 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

ISPS compliance: The US Coast Guard has determined (12/2012) that the Republic of Indonesia is now maintaining effective anti-terrorism measures in their ports. The Republic of Indonesia is removed from the list of the Countries Affected in paragraph B of the Port Security Advisory. Therefore, actions required in paragraphs C and D of this Port Security Advisory are no longer required for vessels that arrive in the United States after visiting ports in the Republic of Indonesia.

In a further effort to combat piracy, the Indonesian Government are allocating Piracy Anchor Safe Zones within some of their ports. These will be patrolled by the Indonesian Marine Police. Individual Port Authorities should be contacted about the latest information concerning these.
