Pilot

updated Aug 2023

Pilotage is required by LPHA Inc. for Foreign Flagged vessels.

Pilots must be certified and trained by the Atlantic Pilotage Authority (APA) Inc. APA can be contacted directly or through the ship's agent to make arrangements.

The Harbour Master and Ship Master may decide to reschedule a vessel's arrival or departure in the absence of an APA Pilot until one becomes available. The Harbour Master may allow usage of LPHA Inc. approved private pilots if an APA Pilot is not available in a reasonable amount of time as decided by the Harbour Master. The Atlantic Pilotage Authority or the ship's agent can help make arrangements for a pilot.
