Approach
updated Nov 2022Approach
Lianyungang should be approached by making for a position 10.0nm ESE of Cheniushan Dao. The port is entered through a dredged fairway channel marked by light buoys (lateral) and on the alignment of leading lights.
A buoyed channel commences 5nm ENE of Yangwo Tou, marked by lightbuoys. The channel leads WSW to Yingyou Men then WNW into Lianyungang.
The channel has a depth 11.5m CD, which is subject to change due to improved widths and depths taking place with dredging. Present max draught 13.5m at HW with 1.0m UKC, vessels of 70-100,000DWT/5th generation container vessels can enter the port on suitable tides.
The channel, which is dredged annually, is liable to siltation and depths frequently change.
Within the port, three turning areas are located off No 6 Wharf, No 7 Wharf and the new part of Miaoling Container Wharf to the E. A further turning circle is located off Wharf No 3.
