Anchorages
The anchorage off Larnaca is safe for well found vessels throughout the year, although the holding ground is reported to be poor. During SE gales a short sea and heavy swell run into the bay. Cargo and passenger vessels should anchor S of a line drawn 090° from the head of the S Breakwater of the main harbour, (34°55.3'N 033°38.8'E).
Tankers awaiting a berth should anchor N of parallel 34°56'N.
Prohibited areas: Anchoring is prohibited in 0.1nm landing area extending from 0.8nm, 2.5nm S of the main harbour, up to 2.25nm offshore.
Anchoring is also prohibited in the approach to the main harbour, up to 1.5nm offshore.
Cargo and passenger vessels should anchor S of a line drawn 090° from the head of the S Breakwater of the main harbour and N of a line drawn 090° from Marina South Breakwater, 34°55.3'N 033°39.6'E.
