There is an anchorage in depths of approximately 22m, with good holding ground, close E of the oil harbour.
Anchorage with depths of 20m-30m available 3.5nm NW of Kalbadagrund Lighthouse (59°59.1'N., 025°35.8'E), W of the main entrance fairway. During calm weather anchorage in the outer approach is possible, however, once the weather turns then the aforementioned area is no longer safe.
Restrictions
During the winter there are no night movements for large tankers and vessels are limited to a maximum beam of 21.3m. During the ice free period, all berths are surrounded by oil booms.
An advisory speed limit of 6 knots exists north of latitude 60° 17.8 N. Outgoing vessels may deviate from the advisory speed limit, if no vessels are moored to the quays to be passed.
Tugs
Scandinavian Tugowners Standard Conditions are applied in all Neste Harbour tug operations. Tugboat escort to all over 40,000DWT tankers from pilot boarding position to port.
Note: In addition all vessels leaving and entering Berth 5 shall be assisted by at least one tug. For Berth 8, gas carriers over 3,000GT will use a Type B on arrival and a 5,000GT on departure. In the event that the vessel is over 3,000GT and not fitted with an operative bow thruster one additional Type C is required. All gas carriers over 5,000GT a Type B is also required on departure. Gas carriers over 15,000GT a Type A/B is required for arrival and departure. For Berth 9, gas carriers over 5,000GT will require a Type B on arrival and departure. In the event that the vessel is not fitted with an operative bow thruster one additional Type C is required.
Special Weather Conditions: In the event that the wind exceeds 15m/s when a vessel is entering or departing then an additional tug (Type C, min 15BP, over 100,000DWT min 30BP) will be required. This is excluding tankers over 100,000-150,000DWT as an additional tug is already taken into account in normal operation conditions.
Mooring
The ropes and wires of the vessel as well as the mooring winches must comply with the OCIMF recommendations. Mixed moorings, that is the combined use of ropes and wires with different breaking strength/elongation factor in the same fixture ashore is prohibited.

Once berthed, the Master is required to present a washing plan and a permission will be granted in writing.
Inert Gas: Inert gas to be used if the vessel is discharging or loading crude oil or gasoline and if the vessel is discharging or loading low flash-point products with a flash point below 60 degrees Centigrade or with a handling temperature of less than 10 degrees Centigrade below the flash point.
