The entrance, open E, has a least width of approx 140m but the fairway for maximum draught vessels is only approx 55m in width.
Caution: A small foul area (ammunition) is situated in the SE corner of the harbour close off the root of the E mole.
Anchorages
Outer anchorage: The most suitable anchor berth is approx 0.2nm NW of the head of the W mole in depths of 27-37m, sand and weed.
Tugs
Tugs are not available.
Mooring
A vessel may berth stern to the quay with 2 anchors laid out ahead. Small craft berth stern to the quay E of the main quay, or stern to the E mole.
