The port of Hvar can be approached from either end of Pakleni Kanal. The harbour is entered directly from the channel avoiding a shoal extending approx 0.1nm W from Otocic Galisnik.
Caution: The channel between Otocic Galisnik and Krizni Rat, approx 0.1nm E in which there are depths from 6.0 to 8.0m, should not be used by vessels leaving Luka Hvar, and is a prohibited anchorage area.
Anchorages
Larger vessels may anchor in the western part of the harbour, in depths of up to 29.2m, moored stern-on to stone bollards.

Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI):
Croatia has signed a PSI ship boarding agreement with the USA aimed at stemming the flow of weapons of mass destruction. If a US or Croatia flagged vessel is suspected of trafficking proliferation related cargo, either party to this agreement can request authorisation to board, search and possibly detain the others vessel and its cargo.
