Approach

Approach and entry: From a position 2nm SE of Grisslehamn the alignment (299°) of the leading light lights leads to the harbour entrance.
The E harbour is approached by a channel, which passes S of Loskaret (60°06.5'N 018°49.0'E), a barren rocky islet off the N entrance point. The direction of the channel for the purpose of buoyage is from E-W.
The W harbour is entered from the SE corner of Singofjarden, leading through the centre of Ornefjarden but, in the inner part of the fjord keeping close to the S shore. Local knowledge is required when navigating the area.
Anchorages
Outer anchorage: An anchorage can be used by vessels drawing up to 6.0m inside Loskaret, sand and clay. However vessels must be ready to sail if the wind shifts to between E and S.
Restrictions
From Loskaret into the harbour, the max permitted speed is 5kts.

There are no tugs at Grisslehamn.

The port is located approx 95km NE of Stockholm and connects the N end of Vaddo with the peninsula of Byholma.
The port
Grisslehamn developed as result of postal traffic between Sweden and Finland, and is made up of an E and W harbour. The E harbour has a ferry terminal, linking it with Finland, plus facilities for fishing and small vessels. The W harbour, which is primarily for small vessels, lies on the SE end of Ornofjarden.
From the beginning of Jan to early Mar, the port is usually closed due to ice.
