Depth in entrance channel 8.0m. Access width to wet dock is 19.9m, sill 3.9m above CD. The best time to enter Granville is 30 minutes before HW.
After passing S of Le Loup Light Tower, steer for the harbour entrance passing as close as possible to the E jetty as an eddy always sets towards the W jetty. Small craft and yachts can approach on the alignment of Saint Nicholas Church belfry just open of Pointe Gautier, bearing 078°, passing S of the drying rocks extending 0.3nm S of Pointe du Roc and N of Le Loup Light tower. Alternatively, the Light tower on the E end of Dique Principale in line with a TV mast bearing 055° leads 0.1nm N of Le Loup Light tower.
Important warning: If departing when the wind is gusting across the lock, it is expressly advised that vessels of mean tonnage should use hawsers long enough to secure entrance and passage through the gates.

Vessels waiting to enter the port may anchor S of Le Videcoq Lightbuoy (48°50.0'N 001°42.0'W) in a depth of approx 7m.
During W gales, vessels will find shelter in Grande Rade de Cancale, 9nm SW. In N gales they should anchor under the lee of Iles Chausey, 4nm NW.
Restrictions
