Pilot

updated May 2010

Pilotage within the terminal area is compulsory, except when proceeding to anchor. The Company Mooring Master(s) will board all vessels scheduled to moor alongside to the Terminals. Should a loaded tanker return to the anchorage area the Mooring Master will not necessarily anchor the vessel but will remain onboard until the vessel clears the vicinity of the terminal, or completes any documentation requirements.

Approach

updated May 2010

Approach

The approach channel is 1,000m wide and clear of obstructions. However vessels should be careful to keep within the channel as there are known to be rock pinnacles in the area. Departure draught restricted to 14.0m due to restriction of water depth in Berhala Strait, unless permitted to do so by the Assistant Marine Superintendent.

Anchorages

Vessels required to anchor should do so in the recommended anchorage (00°53'S 104°06'E), reporting anchoring time to the terminal.

Restrictions

A restricted area is described by a circle of radius 1,000m around the centre of the PetroChina Marine Terminal (00°55.5'S 104°04.0'E).

All vessels must not exceed a fully loaded draught of maximum 14.0m while at the terminal. However, the Company Mooring Master and the Vessel's Master will make mutual decision based on the existing conditions and the safety aspects of the operations.

Tugs

Three tugs of 3,200hp and 3,000hp each having a service vessel capability and are equipped with pollution/detergent spraying and foam fire fighting systems.

Mooring

Ships are requested to have a pilot ladder safely and securely rigged and ready for immediate use, and long enough to reach the mooring launch. A combination of pilot ladder and ship's accommodation ladder is recommended, especially on very large ships. A light line should be ready to take aboard the Mooring Master's equipment. There should be adequate lighting at night. Vessel will provide a lee for the Mooring Master both when boarding and leaving.

During vessel's stay at the dolphin emergency towing wires shall at all times be hung over the ships bow and stern. These wires shall be secured on the bollards inboards to enable the vessel to be towed away should the need arise. They must be tended throughout loading to keep the eye of the wire not more than two feet above the water.

All vessels using PetroChina Marine Terminal must be able to connect their manifolds to the 16in, 12in and 10in flanges.
