Approach

Port Neuf and Port de Rosmeur are approached from E of Ile Tristan and entered between breakwaters.

Port Treboul and Port Rhu, small craft harbours, are approached from either side of Ile Tristan and entered through Riviere Pouldavid.

Anchorages

Outer anchorages: Anchorage in depths of up to 5.0m, mud, can be obtained within about 0.3nm E of the port. The holding ground is good, and sheltered from winds between E and W through S, but with SW winds a swell penetrates into the anchorage.

Note: Anchorage is prohibited N of the root of Mole Est-Ouest and close SW of No 11 anchorage position. The area surrounds an outfall pipeline.

The port, which is an important fishing base, is divided into four small harbours. Port Neuf, NE of the town, is enclosed by breakwaters. Port de Rosmeur, immediately S of Port Neuf is protected from N by the S mole of Port Neuf and from E by a jetty projecting 0.1nm S from the mole.

Ports of Treboul and Rhu, for small craft, lie on the W side of Riviere de Pouldavid opposite Ile Saint-Michel and on the E bank of the river at Douarnenez, respectively.
