Approach
updated Oct 2015Approach
The main channel is buoyed with a transit (two poles with black and white diamonds) on the south shore indicating the line for the channel running north to the inner harbour.
On approaching from the West, a vessel should keep at least 1.0nm from the North shore of Dingle Bay until passing Crow Rock (52° 06.48'N 10°16.58'W), located approximately 0.4nm offshore. On passing this, vessels may then proceed to turn towards the Dingle Harbour entrance, keeping well clear of Reenbag point.
Dredged Channel: From a position just N of Flaherty Point (52° 07.16'N 10°16.03'W) the entrance channel, leads West for a distance of about 0.35nm, then turns North for a distance of approximately 0.5nm to Dingle Pier. The channel is marked by port and starboard markers and dredged to -2.6m OD.
Entrance: The main port entrance is narrow, approximately 150m wide, leading to two inner harbour areas, divided in the middle by Dingle Pier (180m long by 27m wide). The West Basin has a depth of 5.4m and the East Basin a depth of 2.6m.
