Approach

Approach

Directions for the approach to Dilli: Steer for Tanjung Laquebada Lighthouse bearing 180°. When the leading light beacons, surmounted by red, rectangular topmarks with white triangles on them, point up, situated, the front on the shore line, 0.1nm E of the stone pier, and the rear close SE of it, are in line bearing 132.5°, steer for them on this alignment, and anchor as convenient or proceed alongside the wharf.

There is only a narrow passage on either side of the detached reef, and the W of these is generally used. The E passage should only be used by vessels with local knowledge, as a coral patch with a depth of 0.2m lies in the middle of the fairway. There are good navigation aids installed.

Anchorages

The following anchorages have been designated by NCC INTERFET (Naval Command Component, International Forces, East Timor).

All ranges and bearings from Tanjung Laquebada Light.

The majority of the anchorages are designated for vessels up to 120m in length. The Port Control Officer (callsign "Dilli Harbour") on VHF Ch 69 will co-ordinate anchorage allocation.
