The Pilot/Loading Master will undertake the pilotage, berthing and unberthing of the vessel save that the Master of the vessel shall remain solely responsible on behalf of the owners for the safety and safe navigation of the vessel at all times.
Exemption Certificate: A port Pilotage Exemption Certificate may be granted to Masters of regular trading vessels of less than 3,000NT upon the Port Officer's satisfaction of their competency. Such certificates shall be renewed annually.
Anchors: Vessels shall have both anchors ready for immediate use whenever required by the pilot.

Prior to port entry and during pilotage, position fixing should be carried out at frequent Intervals.
Vessels approaching Das Island must navigate with due caution on account of numerous oil platforms and associated submarine pipelines within the waters of Abu Dhabi and neighbouring States. Vessels passing to the E of Das Island must not pass closer than 2nm to the island, and then only with prior permission of the Port Authority and giving due care and attention to vessel movements within the port.
Southern Route: Vessels approaching from the S must pass not closer than 3nm S of oil installations, etc, in the Umm Shaif Field, then towards the pilot/anchorage area SE of Das Island. Special attention shall be paid to the Traffic Routing System which passes between the Umm Shaif and Zakum Oil Fields, and vessels/craft shall navigate in accordance with the requirements of the International Rules and Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea.
Northern Route: Vessels approaching from the N should normally pass down the W side of Das Island and keep at least 4nm to the W and at least 5nm to the S of the Island. Vessels may pass down the E side of the island provided permission has been granted by the Port Authority.
Deep Draught Vessels: Deep draught vessels may approach the port via the deep water buoyed channel. The channel is intended primarily for the use of deep draught vessels sailing from Das Island, but vessels intending to enter the port via this channel should advise "Das Marine" by radio, of their intentions. Masters are advised that this channel is not for the exclusive use of Das Island traffic and are cautioned to proceed accordingly.
