Vessels transiting the Janganseo Area (Jangan) should use the Jangan Vessel Traffic Service.
Boryeong VTS provides radio service only (AIS and radar systems are not installed).
Restrictions
Inbound and outbound vessels should only use the assigned fairway.
Berthing and unberthing is permitted during daylight hours only and on suitable tide.
Wind speed must not exceed 30kts during berthing operation. Visibility must be over 1nm from pilot station and 500m from anchorage.
A max draught of 21.6m forward at SBM.
Mooring
SBM: Two or three mooring launches will be in attendance. One launch to hold the floating hoses to clear vessel's approach path and second launch sends the messenger end of the mooring rope to the vessel.
Vessel's mooring equipment to be in compliance with required mooring devices under OCIMF. Vessel to be fitted with 2 sets of bow chain stoppers but if vessel less than 150,000DWT then single bow chain stopper acceptable. Forward rope drums are to be empty prior to arrival to collect messenger rope during berthing. Vessel approaches from anchorage to the SBM on ebb tide during daylight until 2 hours before sunset.
Berthing at HW: Commence approach about 0.5 hours before HW. Complete mooring 1.5 hours after HW.
Berthing at LW: Commence approach about 3.5 hours before LW. Complete mooring 1.5 hours before LW.
While approaching the SBM the radar speed log should be used to determine distance from the buoy and the vessel's speed.
Samsung Terminal: Samsung vessels have to meet suitable slack tide for berthing as follows:
Berth MDS-31 and MDS-34: LT and HT. Berth MDS-32 and MDS-35: HT only.
Berth MDS-33: LT only.
