The port of Chongming is located on Chongming Island, N of Shanghai, in the mouth of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River.
The port
The port has 5 harbour areas, Baozhen, Xinhe, Nanmen, Xinjian and Niupeng and is managed by Chongming Shipping Administration Department. It has an overall water area of approx 800,000m² and land area of 270,000m².
The main import cargoes handled in the port are ores, coal and general cargo, non-metallic ore, timber, iron and steel. The main export cargoes are ores, iron and steel, general cargo and timber.
