Except for the entrance channel, the greater part of Zhelin Wan is shoal; the approaches to the bay contain many fishing stakes, with shellfish beds in the shallower and drying parts.
Anchorages
No 1 waiting anchorage, in depths from 13.5 to 16m, is situated S of Nan'ao Dao centred on position (23°21.0'N 117°00.0'E), radius 1nm.
No 2 waiting anchorage, a rectangular area 3.5nm long by 1nm wide centred on (23°30.5'N 117°05.0'E) lies N of Nan'ao Dao in the approaches to Zhelin Wan.
Anchorage, which lies E of Xunzhou Dao (23°34.5'N 117°02.0'E), and in which there are two mooring buoys, has depths from 6.0m to 8.0m, mud. The anchorage is sheltered from winds between NE and SE.
