Entry into the port: From a position close SW of "YD" Lightbuoy (safe water) moored 0.8nm SSE of the harbour entrance the track leads NW:

Leading lights are exhibited from the outer arm of Cap-Aux-Meules Wharf.

The lights are visible on the leading line only. The alignment (330.25°) of these lights leads to the harbour entrance.

The port

The port handles 90% of all shipping traffic to the Magdalen Islands. Located on the central island in the heart of the economic and port zones. The port is divided into three sectors. Sector 1 as The Marine Terminal, Sector 2 as Industrial Port and sector 3 as The Multi-purpose Harbour. The Ferry Wharf is used by the ferry between the islands and the mainland, and is also used by trucks for the transport of goods locally as well as the export of fishing products. Cap-aux-Meules is closed from mid Jan to Apr due to heavy ice.
