The harbour may be approached from the N or NW keeping clear of an obstruction lying about 0.15nm W of Cabo Blanco and in depths of less than 10.0m within 0.2nm of the coast extending E from the Cape.
Caution: Rocks awash and submerged extend up to 0.25nm off Cabo Blanco.
Anchorages
Anchorage is available on the line 350° x 0.2nm from the jetty, clear of the mooring buoys in depths of 16-18.0m, sand and mud.
Restrictions
Berthing and unberthing in daylight only.
Mooring
Owing to the current, vessels moor to 2 buoys forward and 2 astern, with bows N or S according to the direction of the current.

The port is small but has a well sheltered cove.
Port of entry for vessels from abroad is Talara, and pilotage is compulsory. There is a CBM used for the export of crude oil consisting of four mooring buoys and offshore pipeline. The port handles seafood.
