Anchorages

Anchorage area consists of depths ranging from 27.0m-29.0m, holding ground fairly good. When at anchor vessels musk keep watch on VHF Ch 14. This channel must not be used for ship to ship exchanges.

Waiting Area: Non nominated tankers, arriving at the terminal, that is, vessels not yet formally programmed to load at Brass River or vessels standing by awaiting instructions from the owners/charterers are advised to anchor outside the terminal operational waters.

Restrictions

Berthing is during daylight hours only (0600-1800hrs), however when conditions warrant and subject to approval of the Swamp Area Manager, berthing may be conducted during the night hours.

The safe handling of vessels must be carried out within the following environmental conditions:

All vessel mooring arrangements must comply with OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines requirements. The tanker must be equipped with standard AKD bracket on the bow for the safe mooring at SPM (OCIMF).

All mooring wires and ropes existing onboard must have a certificate showing the Maximum Breaking Load. All mooring wires must be fitted on self-stowing split type winch drums and must be fitted with synthetic mooring tails. Mooring tails must comply with OCIMF guidelines (maximum length 11m, maximum breaking strength 125% of wire M.B.L. to which they are attached. They must be connected to the wire with Mandel or Tonsberg type shackles).

All the mooring wire and rope winch brakes must be annually tested and BHC recorded with the procedures reported in the OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines.

The hose lifting equipment must comply with requirements of OCIMF Recommendations for Oil Tanker Manifolds and Associated Equipment. The SBM is fitted with 2 OCIMF standard 375mm circumference x 60m grommet ropes and standard 3in chafe chain.
