About Bojonegara

updated Jul 2021

Where it is

Bojonegara is situated on W side of Banten Bay, approx 100km NW of Jakarta.

The port

Bojonegara was originally devised to become a deep water container handling/major coal terminal port. At present, the port mainly handled general cargoes, steel products and consist predominantly of fabrication yards and shipyards. New Coal Terminal operated by Shenhua Guohua (PT SGPJB) with a 2,268m jetty length has been constructed and currently only used by small barge.

The construction of the Bojonegara International Port (BIP) is planned in three phases.

First phase: Construction of a 300m of container dock, 15ha of container yard, 5,000m² of stacking warehouses and 3ha of stacking yard, while 2 container cranes, 6 rubber tired gantry cranes (RTG's), 2 reach stackers and 10 trucks will operate at the port.

Second phase: More terminals will be constructed and more port equipment will be in operation. In addition, the stacking yards will also be enlarged.

The final phase is expected to take 12 years to complete, from 2014 to 2025. During this phase, the container and general cargo terminals will be expanded and special wharves will be constructed.

Pelindo II expects the BIP to be capable of handling large size ships with capacities of between 5,000 and 8,000TEU. When fully completed, the BIP will have a total of five terminals and a capacity of 2,400,000TEU.
