Approach

updated May 2010

Approach

The port is approached via a channel which leads from No 1 Lightbuoy (46°05.0'N 030°30.0'E) to Dnestrovsko-Tsaregradskoye Girlo entrance and rail bridge (0.8nm) and then via Dnestrovsko-Limanskiy Kanal through the S part of Dnestrovskiy Liman (7.8nm). The depth of the approach channel is 4.5m.

Anchorages

Anchorage, in depths of up to 12.0m, is available within the outer roadstead 0.5nm to the SE of Reception Buoy. The holding ground is good. There is an inner roadstead situated within the port area where one vessel can be anchored pending berthing.

Restrictions

The depths of the approach channel and at the berths depend on the level of water in the estuary and the time of last dredging operations which are effected periodically.

The port can be entered by vessels with draught of up to 4.1m and a maximum airdraught height (from the water level) of 28m. Across the mouth of the estuary there is a railway bridge with vertical lift span whose maximum lift is 28m above water level.

Vessels should follow the channel at a speed of no more than 5kts.

Navigation along the channel during daylight hours only.

During bad visibility navigation along the channel is prohibited.

Tugs

Available (600hp-1,600hp). The use of at least 1 tug is compulsory when berthing. Tugs should be ordered 2 hours before they are required.

Mooring

Vessels fully ballasted, as a rule, are allowed to moor at berths if winds do not exceed 25kts. A vessel of a smaller size may be turned broadside to a loaded vessel of a larger size but not vice versa. It is strictly prohibited to turn a third vessel broadside on to another 2 vessels having been turned broadside earlier.
